V Foundation - Victory over Cancer

For the past 22 years, I have been battling to cross the finish line of a marathon in all 50 states. On June 22, 2024, I will finally cross the finish line one last time in the Anchorage Mayor's Marathon.  

I have always been a fan of the underdog, and Jimmy Valvano's NC State basketball team always gives me the chills knowing they won the whole tournament and took a beast down that day!  I stop each time when flipping the channel and notice that the ESPN 30 for 30 documentary on Jimmy V and his team is on.  So fun to see, and knowing his outcome is sad, but also gives hope to all of us.

The story of Jim Valvano's battle in fighting cancer has always inspired me. His famous quote, "Don't give up. Don't ever give up.  And that's what I'm going to try to do every minute that I have left."  Those words are ones that we should all live by!  We all know frirends and family that have battled cancer or are currently battling it.  It is horrible when it impacts us.  But we keep fighting and battling!
